In a film one sees through the eye: while in literature one sees through the mind. The root difference between the two media is that of visual image verses mental image. The image, a poet weaves consists of a thousand suggestions which are extremely difficult to parallel them in a film. On the contrary, in literature it is the novel that has a mass readership and hence, a novel is eminently suitable to be made into a film and ninety percent of feature films are based on novels.
