Some Reasons why we love Pattabhi

• So many reasons. Because he is kind and funny and he is my grandfather – Kaeya Zui.

• I never miss my grandfather because I see him in Pattabhi – Praveen David.

• He’s so lovable, that’s all – Shobha Reddy.

• Because he is such an ocean of love – Vijay Reddy.

• Because he is so empathetic and gentle and loving. And he is so naughty ! – Deepa Dhanraj.

• We love uncle Pattabhi for his simplicity, helpful nature and because he is such a loving person – Ramani, Geetha and Prem.

• Because he knows interesting travel details like – it is wonderful to lie down on the stone corridors of the Chandragiri Palace and watch the parrots fly home- Kirtana Kumar.

• I should say something witty, right? ! I guess Pattabhi epitomizes one of the gentlest souls I have ever met. Quiet. He is one person whose silences are profound and it’s just nice to be around him – Ayisha Abraham.

• Just because he is ! I would say that I have a few people who are milestones for me – there are not many. In that few_Pattabhi figures very importantly –Chandroo.

• Because he is so full of love! – Vijay Chandru.

• Because of his personality and the way he behaves with all of us. No differences at all. And when we talk with him, it is life he is our own. No language barriers whatever the language. And his great simplicity –Shivamurthy.

• Because of his good nature. He is one of the most affectionate and lovable persons – Seetharam Reddy.

• It is only sometimes that you meet people who not only make immediate, literally life long friends but who make a profound impression on you. That was what happened to me. I had known about Pattabhi only as the maker of “Samskara”. He had heard of me only as the cinematographer for “Duvidha” and now of course Deepa’s friend. That I was overwhelmed on my first meeting with the family is really an understatement. Pattabhi, Nandana and Konarak, all three of them made me feel like I was their friend and family but had just not met them for a while. As if ours past histories did not matter and if they did we were just meant to meet, sometimes. As I spent more and more time with them I began to realize what Pattabhi had to offer. I was surprised at the various interests he has and how well read and informed about things he is. From sports, cinema, poetry, mathematics, music to politics, there is no subject he cannot discuss or throw some light on, which on had never thought of before. I noticed he had friends and well wishers of all ages. I never felt he is older than me, or younger than me I always felt he was there for you as you wished hem to be. A great quality. Where do we find people who have done so much in life and are yet so humble? – Navroze Contractor. 

• Because of de-tours in life. He taught me about detours – Madan Kumar.

• Because he has a great sense of humour, is serene and warm hearted. His affection is genuine, he never harps on the past and never cribs. And so many good conversations! – Ajit Kumar.

• He is a great personality and a noble soul. He is so simple and with a philanthropic nature. But mostly he hates the lime light. We wanted to name a layout after him in Nellore and he said he did not like it – K.Balaram Reddy.

• I suppose because he is, two things – he is gentle and he relates to people of any age. So I never see the gap in age when I speak to him – G.K.Meena.

• Pattabhi told me this more than 15 years back. He was studying in Columbia University, NY and he had to come back and he told me that he always liked to take, not the shortest, but the longest route back to India! To any place! ! Incidentally, this was the time of the outbreak of World War II, so it wasn’t possible to a direct rout, but he turned it into a lark. That is the line that has stuck with me. To take the longest route back. After so many years I remember this line. Fantastic! ! – I.G Vaidyanathan.
